Text Reverser

Reversed character by character, “stressed” reads “desserts” — the classic wordplay pair, and a reminder that reversing is not a palindrome check.

How it works

Three reversals, three uses. Character reversal makes backwards text for puzzles, mirror messages and palindrome experiments. Word-order reversal flips a sentence end-to-start without scrambling the words themselves. Per-line reversal handles lists: each line's words flip independently.

The panel shows the result in a copyable block, with character and word counts so puzzle-setters can verify lengths at a glance.

The method

Character mode reverses the character sequence. Word mode splits on whitespace, reverses the token order, and rejoins with single spaces. Each-line mode applies word mode per line break. Punctuation travels with its characters/words — reversing “hello, world” by words gives “world hello,”.

Check important dates twice. Every result here is worked out from the values you enter and the calendar, clock and counting conventions described on the page. Date and time answers can depend on time zones and daylight-saving rules, and counting tools follow the definitions printed with them. For deadlines, filings, payroll or anything with money attached, confirm the figure against an authoritative source.

Frequently asked questions

What is a palindrome, and is reversed text one?

A palindrome reads the same forwards and backwards (“racecar”). Reversing arbitrary text rarely produces one — reversing just shows you the backwards form to compare.

Why did my punctuation move?

In character mode punctuation is a character, so it lands at the mirrored position. In word mode it stays attached to its word. Both behaviours are the honest mirror of the mode chosen.

Can it reverse multiple lines at once?

Yes — each-line mode was built for lists; character and word modes treat the whole text, line breaks included, as one stream.
