Dice Roller

Two six-sided dice — the most rolled pair in the world — average a total of 7 across many rolls, though any single throw lands anywhere from 2 to 12. Press Roll and see yours.

How it works

Choose how many dice and how many sides, and roll. Six-sided dice show their faces as proper dice pips; other sizes show numbers. The panel gives the total every game actually scores by, plus the highest and lowest die for the systems that read them that way.

No physics, no favouritism: each die is an independent cryptographic draw, which is more than can be said for the battered dice in most game boxes.

The method

Each die is drawn uniformly from 1..sides with crypto.getRandomValues and rejection sampling (the same unbiased method as the password generator). The total, maximum and minimum are read straight from the rolled faces.

Check important dates twice. Every result here is worked out from the values you enter and the calendar, clock and counting conventions described on the page. Date and time answers can depend on time zones and daylight-saving rules, and counting tools follow the definitions printed with them. For deadlines, filings, payroll or anything with money attached, confirm the figure against an authoritative source.

Frequently asked questions

What does d20 mean?

Tabletop shorthand: “d” plus the sides. A d20 is a twenty-sided die, d6 the standard cube. This roller takes any side count from 2 upward — a d2 is a coin with extra steps.

Is an online roller fair?

Arguably fairer than physical dice: no worn corners, no loaded faces, and the random source is the cryptographic one built into your device.

Can I roll for a whole table at once?

Yes — up to 20 dice per roll, enough for most damage rolls and dice-pool systems.
